Witness Interview: David Brickwell
Tuesday, January 1, 2002 - 1:44 a.m.
The witness, David Brickwell, was interviewed at crimescene, 1249 Wellington
Street, on the arrival of the investigating officers. The interview was
conducted by Det. Tremain and Det. Blakely and was recorded on portable
tape with witness’s knowledge and consent.
DT = Detective Tremain
QB = Detective Quentin Blakely
DB = David Brickwell, the witness.
DT: Hello sir. I am Detective Tremain and this is Detective Blakely.
Do you think you can talk to us?
DB: I think so.
QB: Can you state your name and address for the record?
DB: I am David Brickwell and I reside at 11 Trenton Square here
in Redington.
DT: Can you tell us why you are here tonight?
DB: I accepted an invitation. Leonard invited me and I came.
QB: I heard that you two were more like rivals. Why would Kaminsky
bothering with inviting you?
DB: He wanted to rub my nose in his so-called find. I just came
for a good laugh…I don’t really make it a secret I hated the guy. He’d
probably get hit by a parked car.
QB: Do you still have the invitation?
DB: No. I dropped it in a paper bin as soon as I could. It wasn’t
really that decorative.
DT: Did you meet anyone you know?
DB: No, it was a really boring party. I briefly caught a glimpse
of Cassandra Carr, but she was too busy talking to her husband. I decided
not to bother her and I doubt she’s seen me.
DT: How did you know her?
DB: Seen her in a magazine somewhere, I think.
QB: You didn’t see Mr. Kaminsky any time during the evening?
DB: No. Really weird now I come to think of it. I would’ve expected
some sarcastic greeting from him.
QB: Where were you when you heard the shot?
DB: I was in the garden walking around talking to people.
DT: You just said, you didn’t know any of them.
DB: I am a social person. I like to talk to people, even if I
don’t know them.
QB: That will be it for the moment. Anything you want to add?
DB: No.
DT: See you later then.
DB: Goodbye detectives.
