Background:
A classmate and longtime friend of Susan March, Hiroshi
participated in the youth talent contest along with Madelyn Clifton, where
he first encountered Shirley. Both ended up getting first place;
Hiroshi beat Stink's stand-up comic act with his ventriliquist act.
His association with the Strangers was revealed after the Harrison house
rally, and it is possible Susan brought him into the group at an earlier
time. Becoming a good friend of Bart, Hiroshi calls him "Bartman"
because of his love for The Simpsons.
Physical Appearance and Other Traits:
Hiroshi's most distinct feature is his hair, which is
long, black, and spiky. He is not too tall, and despite all the food
he puts into his belly, he is a thin boy due to his fast metabolism.
Personality:
To put it bluntly, Hiroshi is a clown. Although
he does not do practical jokes regularly, he is a master of teasing, witty
repartee, and sarcastic remarks. He also has a tendency of lapsing
into cowardice, which results in him saying "We're gonna die!" Underneath
this craven facade, Hiroshi is a competent person when under pressure now
and then and has proven to be reilable in a troublesome situation.
His acts of annoyance earn him a probable ear tug, pinch, or other form
of minor physical inconvenience from his fellow Strangers. His attitude
towards food and girls can be likened to that of the Archie Comics character
Jughead: He likes food a lot, but he prefers to have girls as friends
only. In fact, although he jokes on the subject of romantic relationships,
he seems serious and hurt about it according to his close friends.
Relationships:
Hiroshi gets along with his fellow Strangers despite
his tendency to annoy them, and he has learned to endure his "punishments."
Susan had to put up with his antics ever since their early childhood, and
they are still friends. Madelyn Clifton attended the same school
with him. Bart does not mind his nickname "Bartman," and Parker gets
along with him.
Abilities and Paraphernalia:
Hiroshi's talents lie with his voice. He can expertly
throw it and change it to mimic anything from animals to people.
He carries a sonic boomer as his weapon, and he has excellent aim.
He is also assigned a comlink to keep in touch with the other Strangers.
Due to his love of food, he carries as many snacks on his body as his clothes
can allow him. Another trait viewed as superhuman by his friends
is his ability to eat a lot without gaining any weight.
HA's Comments:
Hiroshi is the one-shot character who refused to go away.
After "Reformed Songbird," he was to fade away. Well, I was unwilling
to let him. Something about him made me want to give him a bigger
part, and he got it. To be honest, Hiroshi is fun to write for, but
it's difficult since he is supposed to be funny. As for the hair,
it's an attempt to copy spiky anime/manga hair that went horribly awry.
You'll see what I mean when you see it.
