Background:
Despite his young age, Number Nine-Nine is a member of
the criminal organization ENIGMA. His involvement with the group
may have to do with his uncle being a member of the Elite Eight, but the
rest of his past remains a mystery. Serving as Number Nine's secondary,
he also heads numerous ENIGMA operations on his own. One such job
was the capture of Bigfoot, and this led to his first meeting with Bart,
who was on his first case with a Stranger. Their first encounter
ended with Number Nine-Nine sporting a scar on his right cheek caused by
flying shrapnel from his destroyed sonic weapon after Bart fired on it.
Ever since that moment, Number Nine-Nine has become fixated with Bart and
has sworn to kill him whenever he gets the chance.
Physical Appearance and Other Traits:
Number Nine-Nine has blue eyes and platinum blond hair.
His most noticible physical feature is a scar on his right cheek, which
serves as a reminder of his hatred for Bart. In the field, he wears
a white helmet with an eye mask and a blue military unifirm similar to
style of those used in the Napoleonic Wars. In addition, he is also
reliant on special pills that stop him from having violent seizures.
He tends to giggle and laugh insanely and stroke his scar while thinking
of Bart.
Personality:
Number Nine-Nine is sadistic and cruel; he loves destroying
things and torturing anyone and anything. Possessing a violent temper,
he values perfection and will punish failure severely. As a result
of having his face scarred, his mean streak became worse, and his self-control
disappears whenever he sees his sworn enemy.
Relationships:
Number Nine is his uncle as well as his superior, and
he is treated more like a subordinate than family. Number Eight supplies
the pills he takes. Despite having never seen Mr. E before, Number
Nine-Nine is still fanatically loyal to him.
Perhaps his most prominent relationship is with Bart.
It is a love-hate relationship: He loves to hate Bart. This
obsession drives him to keep tabs on the young scientist and devise various
methods of killing him. Once he sees Bart, he will focus squarely
on attacking him with whatever he is armed with at the time.
Abilities and Paraphernalia:
Number Nine-Nine possesses superhuman strength and speed.
Like his uncle, he also possesses a great intelligence and expertise in
developing various means of destruction like killer robots, laser guns,
claws, and flamethrowers. His preferred weapons are his Mechapanzers,
heavily armed manned robots designed for various tasks and environments.
HA's Comments:
Hoo boy, poor Bart. Since I gave him a more prominent
role in my SH fanfic world, I felt he needed a nemesis, especially when
I actually start writing side stories depicting his own adventures with
the Strangers (well, it could happen). I pondered making Number Nine-Nine
Bo's nemesis, but I returned to making Bart the object of his hatred.
The scar is the result of an anime show called Escaflowne.
The male protagonist, Van, gives a scar to Dilandau, a major villain, during
a sword fight. Already violently unhinged, Dilandau becomes obsessed
with getting Van for ruining his beautiful face. One episode had
him stroking his scar, which I adapted for Number Nine-Nine. His
physical appearance is the result of combining Dilandau with Zechs Merquise,
a major figure in Gundam Wing (the helmet and uniform copies Zechs').
